For every storm I’ve witnessed in all my years living here, I have never seen forked lightning in Vancouver. It was only during my 10-year stint in Saskatoon did I see amazing lightning storms roll through the city.
I’m willing to admit that standing on my rooftop in the middle of the night during an electrical storm could qualify for a Darwin Award…especially with a tripod that, in hindsight, is essentially a lightning rod. But I didn’t have an SLR back in the Saskatoon days, so you can imagine my excitement when tonight’s storm forked all sorts of electricity throughout Vancouver!
Rest assured that once the torrential downpour reached my house, I couldn’t, in good conscience, stay on the roof much longer. I did catch a couple shots of lightning.
